Howdy.
Howdy y’all! And happy Monday! I’m cuddled in with a tea, on a chilly October Alberta day, and finally getting back to putting the finishing touches on this blog that has been stalled for way longer than I care to admit. Having a little corner of the internet to share my love of Texas has long been a dream of mine, but the tech side is not always as much fun. But if you’re seeing this, I’m glad you’re here, and bless your heart!
I won’t give you the full story right now, but here’s my best little overview of how Misplaced Texan came about… I was born in Canada, to a Canadian and a Texan, and moved to Texas when I was 9 months old, when my dad got a job with the city of Austin. We lived there for 9 years and, while its not nearly as long as I would have liked it to be, my time spent growing up there was so very influential on me. I grew up in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, just outside of Austin, where my parents built several beautiful houses, in some of the most gorgeous spots! My fondest memories include day trips to Marble Falls for pot roast and pie at the Blue Bonnet Cafe, family trips to the beach in Port Aransas, and listening to Don Walser do his finest yoddeling while my parents and their friends two-stepped around the dance floor at the Broken Spoke.
Fast forward a bunch of years, and I’m married to my high school sweetheart, living in Alberta with my two kiddos, and we get invited to the wedding of my Childhood best friend back in Texas. That was one of the fastest “yeses” I’ve ever had, and that road trip down was the start of a re-ignited love of, and desire to be in, Texas! Since then, we’ve been on many more road trips back, including the longest one last year, where I went with my 3 kiddos for 5 weeks!
Whether you’re a fellow Misplaced Texan, have the good fortune of being a bonafide Texan, or just want to know more about the Lone Star State, I’m glad we can connect here!

P.S. Part of my dream has included making a fun apparel line, and I’ve done a few designs myself, as well as working with a very talented Texan designer. So stay tuned because I hope to share more about a mini launch soon!
